Engineering Roles

Cyber-Physical Systems Engineer

Some targets can’t be studied directly—the hardware is scarce, unreachable, or classified, and is often coupled with its environment. You’ll give reverse engineers and vulnerability researchers high-fidelity models and emulations they can probe and instrument, so the team can work at a scale and pace that the real hardware would never allow.

The Work
You’ll build the models and emulators that enable analysis of cyber-physical targets when the real hardware is unavailable, unreachable, or too scarce to test against. You’ll work across resolutions—low-fidelity models that step through enormous state spaces fast, high-fidelity models that capture the critical interactions. Much of this work lives close to the metal: instruction sets and ABIs, operating-system internals, interrupts and device behavior, and sometimes FPGAs standing in for hardware you don’t have. You’ll reach for QEMU and other virtualization and emulation frameworks, extend them where they fall short, and build the instrumentation that observes a running system without changing how it behaves.
Who You Work With
You’ll collaborate with reverse engineers who provide the deep understanding of a target, vulnerability researchers who discover unexpected system behaviors, and program managers who translate your work into mission impact. You’ll have access to hardware test benches, emulation platforms, fuzzing infrastructure, and software-defined instrumentation, and you’ll interact with customers who bring you real-world targets and constraints.
What We Look For
Strong low-level software skills—assembly, ABIs, and operating-system internals—with fluency in C, C++, Python, and/or Rust, a command of fuzzing and program-analysis techniques, and hands-on modeling, simulation, emulation, and virtualization (QEMU or equivalent) for multi-resolution analysis. Embedded or real-time development, familiarity with hardware behavior such as interrupts and FPGAs, and hands-on experience applying AI to the analysis of binaries are valued.
