IT & Systems Administration
STR’s Information Technology & Enterprise Cybersecurity team is responsible for building, operating, and securing the technology environments that enable our people to do their most important work. From enterprise infrastructure and end-user technology to classified systems, networking, and cybersecurity, our teams make sure STR’s technology is reliable, secure, resilient, and ready for the mission.
The Work
Our Enterprise IT teams design and operate the core technology services that support STR every day. Enterprise Infrastructure, Enterprise Operations, and Desktop Services keep servers, endpoints, applications, identity systems, and collaboration platforms running across our locations.
Our Enterprise networking team designs and maintains the high-performance networks that connect people, systems, laboratories, and facilities while providing the reliability and security our mission demands.
Our Classified IT teams operate some of STR’s most critical technology environments. They build, administer, and maintain accredited systems and networks used to support sensitive defense research and development. Working within stringent security and compliance requirements, these teams enable engineers and researchers to work with the information and systems their missions require.

Cybersecurity professionals work across security architecture, monitoring, detection and response, vulnerability management, compliance, identity, and risk to protect our enterprise and strengthen the security of the systems supporting our defense missions.

Whether we’re deploying infrastructure, managing endpoints, engineering networks, securing classified environments, or responding to emerging threats, our teams use modern technologies and automation to solve problems at scale.

Who You Work With
IT is deeply connected to every part of STR. You’ll work alongside engineers, scientists, program teams, facilities and security professionals, and corporate functions across the company. You may support a researcher working on a classified defense program, build infrastructure for a new laboratory, engineer connectivity between locations, or help protect the enterprise from a cyber threat.
The work is highly collaborative, and the problems are rarely routine. Our teams work across disciplines to understand what the mission requires and build technology solutions that make it possible.

What We Look For
We’re looking for people who enjoy solving difficult problems and taking ownership of the technology they support. Depending on the role, that could mean experience in systems administration, cloud and infrastructure engineering, desktop services, networking, cybersecurity, or classified IT environments.
Technical expertise matters, but so do curiosity, sound judgment, collaboration, and a willingness to learn. We operate both enterprise and classified environments, so some positions require security clearances, while others do not. At STR, IT isn’t simply a support function. We are part of the mission. Our teams provide the infrastructure, connectivity, security, and technology that allow our engineers and scientists to develop technologies that address some of the nation’s most challenging defense problems.
